![]() Papyrus Painting - The Goddess Isis (Hathor) and Ma'at Golden Highlights![]() Product Description: Hand painted papyrus of Hathor and Isis who are frequently merged because of their common characteristics with golden highlights.More of the story... In art, originally Isis was pictured as a woman wearing a long sheath dress sometimes she was depicted as holding a lotus, or, as a Sycamore tree. After her assimilation of many of the roles of Hathor, Isis's headdress is replaced with that of Hathor: the horns of a cow on her head, with the solar disk between them. Most often Isis is seen holding only the generic ankh sign and a simple staff. Maat or Mayet, thought to have been pronounced as (Muh-aht), was the Ancient Egyptian concept of truth, balance, order, law, morality, and justice. Maat was also personified as a goddess regulating the stars, seasons, and the actions of both mortals and the deities, who set the order of the universe from chaos at the moment of creation This scene is taken from Hathor's at Denderah.
*****NOTICE**** Changes implemented by the Ministry of Antiquities requires all papyrus to be inspected by an expert - what this means is that while your order will show as shipped, it may in fact be on hold at the Cairo airport pending inspection. For this reason we are not able to combine papyrus orders with anything else, i.e. papyrus and jewelry, or glassworks etc. If you are ordering something else in addition to the papyrus you must order it separately. We apologize for any delays that may occur, ultimately it is about the preservation of the history of Egypt.
